China Cupboard Bears

China Cupboard Bears

I come to the Teddy Bear World with a bit of a different perspective. I am a Doll Collector with a degree in Fashion Design from F.I.T. in N.Y. Consequently my bears tend to be dressed or embellished more then the usual. To me a garment finishes the story the bear started! Earlier styles were very doll prportioned bears but having taught bear making yearly for the last 5 years in Japan has flavored my work with a Japanese Anime proportion.

Cripple Creek Creative Collectibles

Cripple Creek Creative Collectibles

Mikki has always loved animals and now lives on a small farm with her husband, six cats, two dogs and three llamas. Since 2004 she has been creating 'felties' giving special attention to their facial expressions, uniques poses and personalities; hopefully showing a reflection of my love of animals.

These pieces are made from felted wool on a wire frame. All have hand shaded pastel and watercolour details. They are not limited editions but only small numbers of each are ever made.

Murphy Bears

Murphy Bears

By Pat Murphy.

For those of you unfamilar with Murphy Bears, we began a long while ago... 1984 to be exact. Our designs have changed alot over the years, but what has remained ever constant is producing folk-art that is truely unique, original, and very reminiscent of by-gone days. Each piece is carefully hand-dyed, and aged , and then dressed in antique or vintage clothing, with added vintage accessories to give the collector a feeling of the past.

The love of antiques has certainly been a huge influence here at Murphy Bears over the past 25 years! It has taken us from coast to coast in search of everything from arks to schoenhuts, and it's been quite a ride. We love what we do, and here is a little insight into our magical world.

Kislingbears

Kislingbears

Award winning artist Ellen Kislingbury from California was nominated in 1997 for the Golden Teddy Award and for the TOBY Award. Again in 2001 she was an Industry Choice winner of the TOBY Award for her bear “Joaquin.”

She does all of the work herself from the initial design to the final accessory placed on the bear. She prefers to use only mohair but will use a high quality synthetic to achieve a certain effect. She does not elaborately costume her bears, but prefer an illusion of a costume.
