WSPA Bear Adventure 2008 – your help needed!!

Romania and the Carpathian Mountains are one of the least visited but most exciting regions of Europe. Transylvanian castles and medieval towns offer cultural and artistic treasures, whilst the spectacular mountain scenery provide some of the best walking in Europe and significant populations of wildlife that have been persecuted to the point of extinction elsewhere, such as wolves, and , most importantly, brown bears.

The WSPA Bear Adventure is all about these magnificent creatures which have been poorly treated in Romania for many years. Primarily used as tourist attractions outside restaurants and along the roadside, many bears have endured a miserable existence in cramped, barren cages with poor diet and no room to express natural behaviour. The end, however, is in sight. WSPA is funding the construction of a brand new bear sanctuary where rescued animals will be able to live out their lives free from pain and suffering. The sanctuary will open in spring 2007 and Bear Adventure participants will have the privilege of visiting the sanctuary, helping with our vital work and learning how the funds they have raised will make life better for bears. European Brown Bear - Ursus arctos However, there is a catch – before arriving at the sanctuary, each participant must raise a minimum amount of sponsorship and spend four days walking around 50 miles through the stunning Bucegi and Piatra Craiului National Parks.

Jasper Pearson and his wife Helena are planning to go on this wonderful adventure in May 2008, though it looks like we better start getting fit right now!

As a business we will be making sure that we donate the minimum required to cover the cost to the WSPA of this adventure, so you be assured that any money you donate will go directly to help the bears in Romania – not to support us on this wonderful trip.
